Capital: varies by country Religions:All of the gods are worshipped somewhere in Teruno Countries: Pator, Mazon Imports: Horses, Gold, Glass, Salt, Gems, and Silver Exports: Coal, Iron, Ale, Wine, Vegetables, Fruits, Grains, Lumber, and Water. Alignment: LG, NG, CG, LE Major Geographical Features Great Plateau: During the Sundering, a large portion of central Teruno was violently thrust upward. A plateau was formed running primarily East and West that dissects the continent in two parts. Also during the Sundering, a section of Eastern Teruno collapsed and fell beneath the waves. This divided the Great Plateau in two pieces. The cliff walls of the Plateau rising up from the land are anywhere from 1 to 4 miles in height. The only part of the land unaffected was the area around Lycondons Tower. Although none know for sure, it is theories that the power and magic of the gate protected it. Straights of Sorrow: During the Sundering, after the raise of the Great Plateau, I section of the land collapsed and sunk beneath the ocean. This divided the continent into East and West and left a string of islands. Important Sites There are view areas that dont fall under the rulership of the countries of Teruno. They are as follows: Lycondon's Tower: Lycondon built his tower at the site of the great world gate that brought the new races to Philenos. In exchange for being left alone and the occasional offering of the dead criminals of Teruno, Lycondon and the generations of descendants watch over the gate and protect the world from the things that emerge from it. It is rumored that Lycondon discovered the secret of using the gate and that secret has been passed down through those that swear to protect the gate, but none know for sure. Towers of Light and Dark: When the god and goddess that brought the new races to Philenos left the mortal plain, they left behind 2 towers as a symbol of their power and a reminder to the people. That told the people that when they were ready for the knowledge contained in the towers, they would open. The actual contents of the tower remain a secret, even to the gods and goddess that have come after the great two. Their are many ruins scattered across Philenos. No one is quite sure what civilization existed before, but there is evidence that at one time a great society flourished here.
Pator Capital: Corthelon Population: 862,500 Government: Monarchy Religions: Imports: Horses, Glass, and Salt Exports: Ale, Wine, Vegetables, Grains, and Water. Pator is the first country formed by the new races upon arrival. Eventually most of the non-human races left to form their own nations. Today it is primarily human. It is well known for its honest, hard working people. It has a very competent military and provides vegetables and grain for a majority of the know world. As a result, wealth is abundant and even the lowest serfs are often treated better here then anywhere else in Philenos. Life and Society Each of the major cities of Pator is controlled by one of the noble houses. When the king dies, the leaders of each house decide the next king. Someone in line to be the house leader, is not eligible to be the king. This insures that no noble is of lesser importance then any other as even those who can never lead their house can still be called up to be king. Smaller towns are general ruled by these would be kings. They are general under control of the house controlling the nearest city. For these reasons, Town Lords and Ladies tend to be very justice, profit, and productivity oriented as they are all vying for the spot as the next king/queen. Many towns are ruled with the philosophy that a happy serf is a product serf. On the other side of that, Crime of any kind if treated very harshly. Major Geographical Features Pator has a very mild climate. There are actually two growing seasons per year. Most of Pator is gentle rolling farmland and well kept forests. 3 Tunnels: The only way thru the Great Plateau is by 3 man made tunnels. Technically they lead thru the dwarven kingdom but most of the dwarven towns are either above the tunnels in the plateau or below the tunnels deep in the earth. Without a competent guide, it would be impossible to find the way to the dwarven kingdom through them. Great Falls: Two great waterfalls cascade off of the Great Plateau into Pator. The eastern falls are somewhat polluted from the mines and processing areas of the Dwarven kingdom on the plateau. The Western Falls however, is always pure, crystal clear water and is used by most of the noble house of Pator. It seems to be enchanted and is resistant to mixture with poisons. Mist Isle: the Mist Isle is located at the base of the western most waterfall coming off of the Great Plateau. It is so close to the base of the falls that it is shrouded in mist most of the time. Many residents of nearby Draknaa and Zorvain claim to see lights and hear strange noises coming from the island. The unexplored ruins of a great city dot the island. They remain unexplored as no one that journeys to the island and returns will talk about what they have seen. Historians theorize that the site was a place of great magical power before the sundering that raised the Great Plateau. Southern Great Cliff: The southern side of the Great Plateau is the northern border of Pator. This massive cliff wall blocks most of the cold northern winds and is the main reason for its mild climate. Important Sites Pator is one of the most domesticated areas in all of Philenos. Bomas: (Metropolis 34,975) Bomas is the home of the oldest college of magic in all of Philenos. Although not the largest, it is the oldest and most selective. It has a fine tradition of turning out responsible scholars. Most of the noble houses in Pator send their members who show promise to the college here. Lately Bomas has been hit very hard by raiders from the Pirate Islands. The college has been enlisted to aid the local noble house in repelling the raiders. Although the city does have a thriving harbor and rich agricultural trade, a majority of its business revolves around supporting the college. When the college is in session, it has roughly 4000 students and faculty.
Mazon Capital: Population: Government: Monarchy Religions:Mostly gods/goddess associated with nature and arts Imports: Exports:Lumber Mazon was formed by the elves a couple of centuries after The Arrival. They broke from the other races to form a country more in tune with Nature. Today, it is still primarily elven, although other nature oriented races have begun to live with the elves in harmony. Although they are pacifist for the most part, the elves do not let themselves be pushed around and have successfully defended their new homeland from those that thought it would be easy to take over. Life and Society There is only one city in Mazon and it is the capital. Other major settlements are mostly set up for the elves to trade amongst themselves and with others. Queen Illiania rules from the Capital as she has for 300 years. Talk is spreading that she will soon step down and let one of her children take over. Progression to the throne has been passed down in this fashion since Mazon was founded. Each of the elven noble house are in basically in charge of an industry. For example, the Loriana family controls all of the organized lumber industry in Mazon. Officially, no family is considered more powerful then any other. Major Geographical Feature Although Mazons climate is a little harsher then Pators, its massive forests protect most of the people from any real harsh weather. Maiden River: the Maiden River stretches from the waterfall at the Northern Cliff and runs across Mazon. It is the source of water for much of the elven nation.
