History of Philenos

The Arrival

Originally the humans, elves, orcs, gnomes,dwarves and halfings lived on the Planet Filone. They were a non magical advanced society.

The gnomes were the researchers of the world, they labored
long hours and came up with many things that help make life easier. They invented great ships that flew through the air,
ways to light dark rooms without fire, and many other things. They were constantly laboring to come up with new
and exciting things.

One of their experiments involved a way to move a great distance in very little time. Upon testing their invention, they opened a gateway to another plane and 3 Demon lords came through. The gnomes quickly opened another doorway and escaped through it. With no magic to stop them, and the advanced gnomes no where to be seen, the demon lords enslaved the planet with very little resistance. For thousands of years they reigned supreme.

Filone became a brutal place. The demons enslaved every man women and child on the planet. The quest for technology was
abandon for the quest to stay alive.

One day two figures appeared to the leaders of the races, one of dark and one of light. They offered the people a
choice, if they would come with them, they would lead them to a new land where they could start over. Many of the
people were afraid and stayed behind.

In the dead of night, they lead those that were willing through a magical portal to the land of Philenos. They told
the people that Philenos had people of its own and they would have to find a way to live with them. They taught the
people the ways of magic and helped them get a start on what is now known as the continent of Teruno. The people
worshipped them. They were the god and goddess, come to help their wayward children.
Across Philenos, the Gods scattered a number of gems of great power. These gems, when they were found and unlocked, would turn the finders into lesser gods. Thus the people
would have beings of power from among their own kind so the tragedy of the demons would never be repeated. The gems were of different varieties and powers.

They sealed up the magic portal they had came to the world in and built a great tower at the site. Darkon and
Lighonia, the god and goddess, told them, some day, one of them would know what to use the tower for. With that, they disappeared and let the people know that they would be watching and if they were ever truly needed, they would
return, as long as the people didnt forget them.

The people lived peacefully for many
hundreds of years and prospered. They
always feared the demons would find
them and set to keeping watch over the
portal. They slowly expand and created
their own civilization on the continent of
Teruno. They built two towers in honor
of their gods, the towers of light and
dark. So far, they hadnt found any of the
other races that the Darkon and
Lightonia had talked about. After a
couple hundred years, brave souls began
sailing away from Teruno, many were
never seen again. Those sailing to the
south reported finding another land.
They named this other continent Twoto.
They discovered their first races,
the Stratarians and the Mogulans. The
Mogulans appeared to be distant
relatives of the dwarves, They resembled
them in stature but were very adept at
natural magics. The Stratarians were a
race of intelligent avains. The Dwarves
and Mogulan became fast allies. Working
together, they created tools and weapons
that couldnt be beat. They slowly began
to spread across Twoto.
All was still peaceful. They built
great institues of learning and new and
powerful magics were discovered. The
people learned of the four elemental
gods. They were minor in power but
many flocked to their worship too.
Across Twoto they discovered signs of
an ancient civilization that had long since
expired. The Stratarians and Mogulans
knew nothing of other civilizations, as far
as they knew, the ruins had always been
there.
The Great War
This was a golden age for the
ancient civilization.Unfortunately, it was
not to last. An evil wizard named
Shaylock, was thrown out of the major
academy of learning, for unlawful
experiments. He disappeared into the
uncharted parts of Twoto. While there,
he learned black arts long forgotten by
the peaceloving peoples of the lands. He
discovered a mysterious artifact that
increased his powers tenfold. After many
years of seclusion and hiding, he returned
and quickly seized control of Twoto. No
one could stand up to his power. He built
a massive fortress on an island he created
in a lake in the center of Twoto.
Thousands of slaves died in the
construction, and as they died, he sealed
them into the walls of the Castle. The
black fortress could be seen for miles. He
magically engineered a group of his
servants and they become the first
shadow masters.
He quickly spread his control
across the lands. He enslaved and
exterminated as he went. Thousands fled
to the sea to escape. Many of the
Sorcerors fled to the north and founded
Sorcerian. They built a massive fortress
to hold off the powers of the Dark
master. They found the nation of the
feline race, the Kitarian. The Kitarian,
became fast allies with the human and
elven refugees.
Many fled to the west and
discovered the Desarians and their vast
desert kingdom on Desar. The mage
Bloodmoon, founded a large citadel in
the mountains there. Him and his
followers trained everyone who was
interested in the Magical arts and slowly
built an army to fight Shylock. They hand
picked a group of fighters and began to
